About your hosts - a brief biography

Pastor Larry Conway was ordained in 1980 by the New Jersey Synod of the Lutheran Church in America and served two congregations in the Maryland Synod. While there, he was part of the Synods ecumenical team with responsibility for Western Maryland.

 

He began his military ministry in 1985 at the request of the former Lutheran Church in America to serve as a military Chaplain. His service included living for three years in Germany, when he and Linda attended the Passion Play in September of 1990. The places he served included Ft. Hood, Texas;  Giessen, Germany; Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey; Ft. Irwin, California; Princeton, New Jersey; Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, Washington, DC; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.

 

Pastor Conway also served in a variety of capacities, including as an instructor for the US Army Command and General Staff College, as a funerals chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery, and in the Middle East during 2005, traveling to various locations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, and Kuwait.

 

Pastor Conway left active duty in January of 2007 and accepted the call to serve as the Senior Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, Illinois. He began his ministry at Trinity  in February of 2007 and remains in that position.

 

Pastor Conway is a native of the Philadelphia, PA, area and has been married to his wife, Linda, for over 34 years.
